You may plan on being admitted for inpatient mental health services after a psychiatrist determines that inpatient care is the best choice for you. Or, other physicians you see may consult with a psychiatrist at TMC Behavioral Health Center to evaluate your treatment needs, which may also result in your admission to our facility.
The admission process at TMC Behavioral Health Center is:
- Patients, their families or a referral source should call 903-416-3000 to schedule an evaluation.
- All patients will meet with a licensed mental health professional for an evaluation.
- Patients meet with one of our psychiatrists for a consultation.
- Staff members at the center will then discuss their recommendations with patients and their families.
Psychiatric care is a covered service under most insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid. Our intake department will work with you to help answer specific questions related to services and eligibility for admission.
In an emergency
Anyone who needs an immediate evaluation can go, or be taken, to the Emergency Department at Texoma Medical Center, where mental health assessment services are available at all times.
When you’re concerned about someone else
You may be concerned about the safety of a family member, friend or someone who does not recognize his or her own mental health disturbances. If a person is in imminent danger do not wait but call 9-1-1 as quickly as possible. If the person you are concerned about will not consider an evaluation and is not in imminent danger, but is a danger to himself or herself, a danger to others or is in a decompensating condition, contact your county judge’s office to discuss their condition.
